Dive In...The Water is Fine

Hello! Imani A. your New York skin care guru and friend here. Summer is officially here and I hope you are finding some well deserve time to soak up that much needed natural Vitamin D. I'm taking a break from my therapeutic sun soaking to remind my beloved Poshfaces of a common skin care savior that is often neglected in the Summer lifestyle rush. No...I am not referring to costly skin care products or regimens. I am not discussing time consuming tasks of any sort. I am talking about a timeless friend to us all....Water. If you want a flawless complexion and to do wonders for your health inside and out of those posh bodies, never say no to H2O. Here's why....

It is common knowledge the body needs water to function properly. That is a given. Without proper water intake, dehydration can occur; this can lead to dizziness, headaches, fatigue and other unpleasant occurrences. Water also aids in proper organ function. Healthy is the key that unlocks beauty. Always remember that. But did you know that your skin is the largest organ you have. So why not treat it like the star of the show. Water can reduce the appearance of pores and wrinkles in the skin by plumping the skin, improving elasticity and supporting collagen production in a variety of skin structures. Water also significantly aids in proper blood flow to the skin, lends a helping hand in detoxification, and can help reduce breakouts and blemishes by decreasing the concentration of oil on your skin. Drinking at least 8 ounces of plain, pure, filtered water every day plays a crucial role in maintaining the moisture balance of your body and skin. I would even dare to say, go above and beyond the least you can drink and drink more. Water is a one way ticket to gorgeous, glowing skin. You will only benefit. Not a fan of the taste of water? Elevate it. You can add a variety of crushed fruits, infuse it with herbs, or a splash of juice. Here is a great link on 20 Creative and Tasty Ways to elevate your water: http://www.naturallivingideas.com/boring-water-interesting/. It also important to remember that if you have a true Hollywood love affair with caffeinated products or festive summertime alcoholic beverages, that you triple the amount of water you drink. ;) As much as we all love our caffeine and an occasional kick back our feet and enjoy the day drink....Both naturally dehydrates. You do not have to part ways, but amp up your water intake to compensate and replenish.

Furthermore, don't be afraid to take your skin hydration to the next level during months of increased or decreased temperatures as well. Hydration is just as important on the outside of your skin as it is inside. Branch out and beautify. The use of products such as intensive masques on weekly basis, boosters, and toners will really work well with your current moisturizers to keep skin hydrated, and full of life. If you find the humidity and heat is causing an excess in oil, clogging your perfect pores, try a salicylic acid based cleaner to control oil and kill bacteria in the skin.
